Ishan Kumar Patro appointed vice-chancellor of Ravenshaw University

Bhubaneswar: Prof. Ishan Kumar Patro has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor (VC) of Ravenshaw University in Cuttack.

Odisha Governor S.C Jamir has appointed Ishan Kumar Patro as vice-chancellor of Ravenshaw University. Patro will succeed incumbent VC Prakash Chandra Sarangi.

Exercising the powers conferred by Section 10 (1) & (5) of Ravenshaw University Act, 2005 Governor Jamir, who is also Chancellor of the University, appointed Patro as Vice-Chancellor for a period of three years with effect from the date he assumes office as such or until further orders whichever is earlier.

As per direction of High Court of Orissa in WP (C) No. 25950 of 2017 (Prof. Nachiketa Das vrs. Chancellor, Ravenshaw University and others), this appointment will depend upon the final outcome of the writ petition.

Prof. Patro is presently serving as Professor of Zoology at Jiwaji University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

He did his Ph. D from Kurukshetra University. He has a long teaching experience of 29 years. As Head of the Department Prof. Patro has administrative experience of 17 years.

He has to his credit 66 numbers of Research Papers publications in reputed national and international journals. Besides, 25 scholars under his guidance were awarded Ph. D degree.
