Cylinder blast inside train at Puri Railway Station in Odisha


Puri: At least two persons were injured in a cylinder blast inside a train at Puri Railway Station here on Wednesday evening. The explosion took place on an army train.

The explosion was reported to be that of a cooking gas cylinder being transported in the coach.

As per sources, the army train was stationed at platform no-2 of the railway station.

The injured persons were rushed to Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and stated to be stable.

The explosion occurred when in the pantry car of an army train stationed at the platform number-3at the Puri railway station.
The intensity of explosion was so severe that the window panes of adjacent Puri-Tirupati Express, which was stationed in platform number-2 also shattered into pieces, sources said.

However, the exact reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained. Following the explosion, panic prevailed among the passengers in the station.

The railway officials have reached the spot and taking stock of the situation.
