Bijepur by-election in Odisha on February 24: ECI

Bhubaneswar/ New Delhi: The Bijepur by-election in Odisha will be held on February 24 this year, announced the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday.

According to a notification of the ECI, the counting of votes for by-election to the Bijepur Assembly constituency will be held on February 28.

The Bijepur by-election in Bargarh district was necessitated following the death of Congress MLA Subal Sahu.

While Gazette notification to hold Bijepur by-election will be issued on January 30, the last date of filing of nomination is February 6.  

The date of scrutiny of nomination papers is February 7 and withdrawal of nomination papers is February 9.
