BJP activists ransack Jagatsinghpur DRDA office in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: During Odisha bandh, activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday ransacked the office of the Jagatsinghpur District Rural Development Agency (DRDA).

BJP is observing a state-wide dawn-to-dusk hartal demanding resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik accusing him of solely responsible for the suicide of the minor tribal rape survivor in Kunduli under Koraput district.

The activists entered the DRDA building and headed straight towards the chambers of various officers and started throwing down chairs, name plates and they also broke window panes, sources said.

Meanwhile, adequate police personnel were deployed around the DRDA office to avert any further untoward incident.

Schools and colleges were remained closed today in view of hartal and bandh called by opposition BJP and Congress, respectively.

The two major opposition parties-BJP and Congress- are observing separate 12-hour-bandh demanding resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his alleged failure in ensuing justice to the tribal minor girl who was allegedly gangraped by four men in uniform on October 10 last year and forcing her to commit suicide on Monday.
