Odisha bandh: NNKS seeks probe into BJB College student’s death

Bhubaneswar: The Naba Nirman Yuva Chhatra Sangha, student wing of the Naba Nirman Krushak Sangha (NNKS) on Tuesday observed Odisha Bandh over the alleged ragging-related suicide of BJB College girl student.

However, the bandh seemed to have failed to put an impact as the vehicular traffic and rail movements were normal in major places without any disruption. Besides, the business establishments were found open in urban areas.

The NNKS is demanding proper probe into the death of Ruchika, who committed suicide in a hostel room in BJB College campus. Her body was found hanging in the hostel room on July 2.

In view of the Odisha Bandh, the Home Department had issued an advisory to various Government Departments, officials at Lok Seva Bhavan and the Kharavela Bhavan, to be on alert.

Government employees have been asked to enter Lok Seva Bhawan, Kharavela Bhawan, Rajiv Bhawan and in the Heads of Department Building latest by 9.30 am.

The front gates of the Lok Seva Bhawan will be closed at 10.15 am, and all passage will be regulated through the rear gate.
