The incident occurred at Bijjharpur-Kapila road in Jajpur district last night.

The deceased were identified as Khageswar Raja, owner of Tarini Jewellers, and his staff, Chaitanya Sahoo.

According to reports, miscreants intercepted Khageswar and Chaitanya and slit their throats on the road when they were returning home after closing the jewellery shop on Friday night.

They took away gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. The two were killed on the spot.

The matter came to the fore only after family members started searching them as they didn’t return home by midnight and subsequently found them lying dead on the roadside. They found the bodies with throats slit and ornament bags missing.
