Tata Steel FAMD bags 6 safety awards from Odisha govt


Bhubaneswar: Directorate of Factory and Boilers (DOFB), Government of Odisha has conferred 6 safety awards on Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD), Tata Steel at a function held here on Saturday.

Susanta Singh, Minister of State for Energy gave the awards in presence of Anu Garg, Labour and ESI secretary, Kamalendu Mohapatra, Director of Factories and Boilers and Malay Kumar Pradhan, Deputy Director of Factories and Boilers (Safety) and other dignitaries.

Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys Plant (FAP) at Joda in Keonjhar district received first prize for Lowest Weighted Frequency Rate of Accident for 2014 and for Lowest Severity Rate of Accident for 2015 and 2nd prize for Lowest Severity Rate of Accident for the year 2016.

Similarly, Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys Plant (FAP) at Bamnipal in Keonjhar district bagged first prize for Lowest Weighted Frequency Rate of Accident for 2015 and second prize for Lowest Accident-Free Period in 2016, and first prize for Lowest Severity Rate of Accident for 2017.

G P Sahu, Head, FAP, Tata Steel, Joda and Umesh Kumar Ratha, Head, FAP, Bamnipal, Tata Steel received the awards on behalf of the company.

Speaking on the awards, R R Satpathy, General Manager, Operations, FAMD said, “As a responsible corporate Tata Steel has always given utmost priority to safety aspects in its operations and these awards vindicate it.”
