Bhubaneswar: A day after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ordered the grounding of 11 aircraft belonging to IndiGo and GoAir, the companies on Tuesday cancelled at least 65 flights in Bhubaneswar and other cities of the country.
Budget carrier IndiGo cancelled as many as 47 flights from various cities including Bhubaneswar. GoAir has cancelled 18 flights.
“Only one IndiGo flight-No 701 has been grounded in Bhubaneswar,” informed Biju Patnaik Airport Director Suresh Chandra Hota.
This was a planned cancellation so the carrier has informed that alternative arrangements were made for passengers who had booked their tickets,” he said.
Apart from Bhubaneswar, the flights that have been cancelled are from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Patna, Srinagar, Bhubaneswar, Amritsar, Srinagar and Guwahati, among others.
The country’s aviation regulator DGCA grounded eight A320Neo planes with faulty Pratt & Whitney engines yesterday.
