Odisha govt approves formation of Biju Yuva Vahini

Bhubaneswar: Keeping an eye on 2019 elections, the Odisha Cabinet on Wednesday approved a sub-scheme Biju Yuva Vahini under Biju Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojna to reach out to youth at grass root level and promote them for youth-led social action and community engagement activities.

Biju Yuva Vahini will channelize the immense youth energy of the state towards nation-building activities.

It intends to promote youth for volunteering and encourage them to be part of various social action projects and community engagement activities.

The programme would attempt to inculcate traits of good citizenship, develop leadership qualities, national character, comradeship and personality development among the youth.

Youth in the age group of 15 to 35 can be an applicant to join the ‘Biju Yuva Vahini’. The total membership in one “Biju Yuva Vahini” should ideally range around 25 members.

It will be encouraged by various social actions in the Panchayats/ULBs through awareness campaigns, street plays, observation of important days, camps etc.

Youth will also be encouraged to undertake various sporting activities at grass root level and also be encouraged to creatively involve in cultural programmes at Panchayat level to ensure a quality ambience for all-round growth.

Besides, they will be encouraged to carry out the ‘Mu HERO’ Campaign, meaning ‘I am the Hero’ contributing in real identification and celebration of Unsung Heroes (change agents) from each Panchayat/ULBs for acknowledgement in society.
