IAF plane crashes near Odisha-Jharkhand border, pilot injured


Bhubaneswar: An Indian Air Force (IAF) plane met with an accident at a village near Odisha-Jharkhand border on Tuesday.

As per reports, the aircraft fell at Mahuldangri village under Baharagora block in East Singhbhum district in Jharkhand.

The incident took place at around 12.45 pm on Tuesday along Subarnarekha river on Odisha-Jharkhand border.

While the plane fell in an open field, the pilot had ejected safely. However, he suffered injuries following which the villagers rushed him to Bahadaguda health centre for treatment.

The plane had taken off from Kalaikunda Air Force station in Kharagpur.

Soon after the accident, fire officials were alerted who rushed in for rescue operations.

While the cause of the accident is not clear yet, a CoI will investigate the cause of the accident, said a statement of IAF.
