Odisha govt presents Rs 1.20 lakh crore budget for 2018-19


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday presented Rs 1,20,028 crore annual budget for 2018-19.

Finance minister Sashi Bhusan Behera presented the annual Odisha budget in the state assembly.

The Odisha government also presented a separate agriculture budget of Rs 16,765 crore for 2018-19.
The budget focuses on achieving rapid and inclusive growth throw human development, physical and social infrastructure, social safety nets for the disadvantaged and vulnerable sections and empowerment of people, said Behera.
The state government has proposed the largest allocation of 19678 crore for the education and skill development sector.
In the Odisha budget 2018-19, the state government proposed to introduce a new scheme ‘Ama Ghare LED Light Karyakram’ in which each poor household will be provided with 4 LED bulbs free of cost.
The government has proposed an allocation of Rs 125 crore for the new scheme.
The state government has proposed to provide Rs 400 crore for the smart cities mission.
The budget proposed to upgrade the public transport system of Bhubaneswar on PPP mode with an allocation of Rs 125 crore ahead of the Men’s Hockey World Cup scheduled to be held in November 2018.
In order to address disaster management problem, the state government proposed to provide Rs 2,090 crore for disaster management including Rs 865 crore under state disaster response fund and Rs 1,000 crore under national disaster response fund respectively.
