Bhubaneswar: Members of Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) and Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) on Saturday staged a demonstration at various petrol pumps across Odisha protesting hike in the prices of petrol and diesel.
The party activists distributed leaflets to the public making them aware of the frequent hike in the price of petroleum products.
They alleged that the Central Government has failed to take steps to reduce the price of the petroleum products.
The BJD activists resorted to a peaceful demonstration in front of petrol pumps holding banners and placards protesting against the record hike in the prices of petrol and diesel.
BJD general secretary Sanjay Das Burma said the BJP-led central government is exploiting the common people by increasing the excise duty on petrol and diesel.
BCJD president Rana Pratap Patra alleged,” BCJD and BYJD have been staging protests against the Centre but that didn’t have any effect. Now we have decided to make the people aware of the Centre’s hidden agenda and that is why we have initiated this public awareness programme through demonstrations.”
