Medical college to come up at NIT Rourkela

Bhubaneswar: The union government has given the green signal for the opening of a medical college at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) campus in Odisha’s Rourkela.

The permission was granted by the Centre under Section 10A of Medical Council of India Act, 1965 on an application made for the purpose.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in a letter to the NIT-Rourkela Director, said the institution should submit an application in this regard during 15th June to 7th July.

“A medical college with all modern facilities will be set up inside the NIT campus and it will help the common people from the eastern region in providing the best healthcare,” said NIT-Rourkela Registrar SK Upadhyay.

Upadhyay informed that the medical college will be established with all modern facilities and state-of-art infrastructure once the Medical Council of India gives the final approval.
