Bhubaneswar: A Chair and Research Center in the name of Utkal Gaurab Kulabruddha Madhusudan Das was inaugurated in KIIT School of Law on Saturday. Madhu Babu was an eminent Odia, and freedom fighter, who played a pioneering role to make Odisha a separate state.
The Chair and Research Center will help students and researchers for higher study and research on Madhu Babu.
Madhu Babu was the first law graduate and first lawyer from Odisha. He played a key role in the formation of separate Odisha state and his contribution towards the education in Odisha, particularly education of women, was remarkable.
Inaugurating the Chair and Research Centre, Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, MP (Rajya Sabha) said, establishing a Chair and Research Centre in name of Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das on his birth anniversary is an appropriate tribute to this great personality by a university.
Wishing success of this research centre, he said, the students of KIIT Law School, as well as other students and researchers, would be benefited to do more study and research on Madhu Babu.
Those students who are interested in legal practice should follow the path of Madhu Babu, he advised the students.
Joining as the guest of honour, Bimalendu Mohanty, former VC, Utkal University of Culture said, after returning from Calcutta, Madhubabu knew the precarious condition of Odisha.
Madhubabu will be remembered by each and every Odia for his remarkable work for the upliftment of people. We celebrate his birth anniversary as Swabhiman Diwas as he was always aware of self esteem.
Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS, in his welcome address, threw light on some important aspects of Madhubabu’s life. The students and researchers can extensive study and research on Madhubabu through this chair and research centre, he added.
