Inter-state cell phone theft racket busted, 3 held in Gajapati


Bhubaneswar: Gajapati police in Odisha on Thursday busted a gang of inter-state mobile phone thieves and arrested three persons.

The Kasinagar police in Gajapati district arrested the trio, all belong to Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh. The accused have been forwarded to court.

Police have recovered as many as 15 mobile phones, five bikes and laptop from their possession. Police were on the lookout for more persons involved in the racket.

Further investigation is on in the case, said sources.

Earlier in the day, Commissionerate police in Bhubaneswar busted an inter-state bike lifting gang by arresting two persons. At least 35 motorcycles were seized from their possession.

Acting on a tipoff, a team of Khandagiri police station officials raided different parts of the city and arrested the duo.
