Deep depression to bring rain

Low pressure to bring rainfall in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Several places of Odisha are likely to receive rainfall under the impact of a low pressure which has concentrated into a depression on Tuesday.

“Latest observations and satellite imageries indicate that the Well Marked Low Pressure Area (WML) over Eastcentral and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal (BoB) has concentrated into a Depression and lay centred over Northeast and adjoining Eastcentral BoB, about 715 km East-Southeast of Balasore,” said a bulletin of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

It is very likely to intensify further into a Deep Depression. It is very likely to move North-Northeastwards and cross Myanmar and adjoining Bangladesh coasts between Kyaukpyu and Teknaf (Bangladesh) close to Sittwe on Tuesday night.

The IMD has hoisted Distant Cautionary Signal Number One (DC-I) at all ports in Odisha.

“Strong gusty surface wind from Southwesterly direction with speed reaching 35-45 KMPH gusting to 55 KMPH is likely to prevail along and off Odisha coast. Sea condition would be moderate to rough,” it said.

Fishermen are advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea along and off Odisha coast. Fishermen are also advised not to venture into the sea of Northeast and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
