Bhubaneswar: Newly-appointed Chairman of Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC) Kuna Tripathy on Tuesday said film shooting in Kalinga Studio would be resumed by September this year.
“I want to make sure that the renovation work to be completed by September so that the film shooting can restart at Kalinga Studio. The Chief Minister agreed to this proposal and he also wanted that the shooting to regain momentum at the studio,” said Tripathy.
The OFDC chairman met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and discussed various developmental issues related to Odia film industry.
Tripathy said that the development and renovation work of the Kalinga Studio has already begun.
The lone studio for film shooting has been lying defunct after it faced the wrath of nature during the super cyclone in 1999. The government did not show any interest to revive the studio.
“Along with the films, we are keeping in mind the tourism development that can work in the parallel ground. We are planning to renovate some of the old film halls along with many new Cineplex,” said Tripathy.
He also informed that the Chief Minister will declare the development of film policy for the state within 15 days.
