Odisha govt to organise Startup Conclave in Nov


Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to organise a Startup Conclave during the 2nd edition of Make in Odisha Conclave scheduled to be held during November 11-15 this year.

This was decided in the 3rd meeting of the Startup Council held under the chairmanship of chief secretary A.P. Padhi on Thursday.

The meeting approved the proposals for registering 3 new institutions as nodal centres for the startups.

These are Institute of Hotel Management, Bhubaneswar, Sri Sri University, Cuttack and NIST Berhampur.

The proposal for providing financial assistance to Technology Business Incubator in NIIT, Rourkela and Technology Business Incubator in KIIT, Bhubaneswar were also approved in the meeting.

Need-based assistance was approved in favour of Ordunio Labs for carrying forward its innovation of embedded Sim. The innovative ideas of Coastkings Pvt Ltd for seafood processing and packaging were also accorded approval for need-based assistance.

MSME secretary L.N. Gupta informed that till date 233 startups have been recognised in the state while 37 benefits have been given to 30 startups.

He said that these 30 assisted startups are providing employment to 476 persons.

There are 7 incubators working for incubation of the startups with a total incubation area of over 4 lakh square feet to assist the startups. Already a network of 108 mentors has been put in place.

The total 233 startups recognised by Startup Odisha are working in 39 sectors ranging from advertising and aeronautics, education and enterprise to software and renewable energy and retail and robotics.
