Chhattisgarh has stopped Mahanadi water: Dharmendra

Sambalpur: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday admitted that Chhattisgarh has stopped Mahanadi water due to which Odisha is not getting required water during the non-monsoon period.

He said Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik should take steps and the state wing of BJP will support the efforts of the state government to resolve the water issue.

While addressing a press meet in Sambalpur, Pradhan said no provision has been made by the state government to store water in lower catchment areas of Hirakud.

He said both Odisha and Chhattisgarh governments are providing water from Mahanadi river to industries.
