7 transgenders held for attacking Naga Baba in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested seven kinnars (transgenders) for allegedly thrashing a Naga Baba at the Jayadev Vatika.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anup Sahoo said the transgenders were arrested by Kandhagiri police on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim Naga Baba.

According to reports, police got to know that a group of transgenders were indulged in various immoral activities. When the cops tried to disperse them, the latter fled from the spot and tried to take shelter in the Baba’s ashram. But he refused to allow them into his mutt.

Enraged over this, the transgenders barged into the ashram on Thursday morning with wooden sticks, dragged him out and mercilessly thrashed him. The incident triggered panic in the area and no one dared to intervene.
