Process for shifting tigers from Andhra Pradesh to Odisha begins

Bhubaneswar: The process to translocate three pairs of tigers from Madhya Pradesh to Odisha has started and it is expected that a tiger would reach Odisha within two days.

Initially, a tiger from Kanha Tiger Reserve (KTR) is being shifted to Odisha, an official said.

The three pairs of tigers will be shifted to the Satkosia Tiger Reserve (STR) in Odisha.

The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has already given its permission for the purpose. There are strict rules for the relocation of animals, especially endangered species like the tiger.

Meanwhile, the locals at Satakosia Tiger Reserve opposed the shifting of tigers to the reserve.
