Odisha Vigilance traces Rs 3.85 crore properties from Dhenkanal RTO


Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths on Thursday unearthed assets worth Rs 3.85 crore after conducting raids at the houses and office of Dhenkanal Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Basanta Kumar Behera.

Vigilance sleuths conducted raids at the residence and other properties of Dhenkanal RTO in connection with the disproportionate assets case on Thursday.

Behera has been staying at the BDA area of Cuttack for a long period of time.

Simultaneous searches were also conducted at five different places including his residence at Cuttack, houses of his father-in-law at Binjhapur in Jajpur district, the house in Bhubaneswar and his office at the Dhenkanal district headquarters.

During the search, vigilance officials traced that Behera owns four luxurious cars including one Mercedes Benz with the market value of Rs 40 lakh. Vigilance sleuths have also found that Behera possesses bank deposits of over Rs 47 lakh.

Behera also owns seven land plots in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar and a flat in Bhubaneswar, said Vigilance sources.

The market value of the immovable property would be over Rs 3 crore, sources added.
