Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates Bhubaneswar New railway station

Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the Bhubaneswar New railway station here on Saturday.

After the inauguration, Pradhan expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Railways Minister Piyush Goel and railway officials.

He said the long standing demand of the people of new Bhubaneswar area has been fulfilled.

Passengers from Chandrasekharpur, Rail Vihar, Damana, Patia, Raghunathpur and Baranga areas will be greatly benefited as the new station became operational.

The new station, around 14km away from the existing main station near Master Canteen, is situated between Mancheswar and Barang stations.

The work of the station which was started in 2012, completed this year. Its deadline has been increased for two times in three years due to change of contract agency engaged by the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).

The station has nine rail lines and six platforms along with two foot over bridges. Out of the total nine lines, five rail lines were functioning in the station.

The work on passenger amenities like installation of water kiosks, ticket counters, benches and installation of electrical equipment completed on time while the work for station building, staff quarters and approach road was completed last year only.

It has been decided to provide stoppage of three passenger trains viz. Howrah-Puri-Santragachi, Rourkela-Puri-Rourkela and Cuttack-Brahmapur-Cuttack MEMU at Bhubaneswar New Station w.e.f. 7th July, 2018 on an experimental basis for a period of six months.

The East Coast Railway also launched a Mobile App for Puri Rath Yatra. The app was inaugurated by Pradhan.

Train Timings:

58001 Howrah-Puri Passenger will arrive at Bhubaneswar New Station at 1056 hrs and will leave at 1057 hrs towards Puri. In the return direction, 58002 Puri-Santragachi Passenger will arrive at Bhubaneswar New Station at 1141 hrs and will leave at 1142 hrs towards Santragachi.

58131 Rourkela-Puri Passenger will arrive at Bhubaneswar New Station at 2032 hrs and will leave at 2033 hrs towards Puri. In the return direction, 58132 Puri-Rourkela Passenger will arrive at Bhubaneswar New Station at 0643 hrs and will leave at 0644 hrs towards Rourkela.

68433 Cuttack-Brahmapur MEMU will arrive at Bhubaneswar New Station at 1753 hrs and will leave at 1754 hrs towards Brahmapur. In the return direction, 68434 Brahmapur-Cuttack MEMU will arrive at Bhubaneswar New Station at 1035 hrs and will leave at 1036 hrs towards Cuttack.
