Bhubaneswar: Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi on Tuesday wrote to Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam for urgent assistance for search and rescue of a fishing boat capsized in the Bay of Bengal.
The boat capsized near around 7-8 Nautical miles away from Dr Abdul Kalam Island in the Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast due to adverse sea condition on July 10.
In a letter to the Flag Officer Commander in Chief, Sethi has requested him to mobilize the Naval Team with equipment for clearance of the site as well as search and rescue of the body of the missing person and the capsized boat.
The Bhadrak district collector has informed that six fishermen were rescued by nearby other fishing boatmen and one is reported missing.
ODRAF, NDRF, Marine Fishing Trawler and Scuba Diver could not reach the capsize site despite best efforts due to high tidal waves.
