Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, at least five school students were killed and six others injured after being run over by a speeding truck on NH-16 in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Thursday.
The incident occurred on National Highway – 16 at Ranitela near Rahanja of Bhadrak while the children were returning from school.
The irate locals set the vehicle on fire. They also blocked the road disrupting vehicular movement.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the kin of the deceased. He also announced free treatment for the injured persons. He also expressed grief over the Bhadrak road accident.
