IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Odisha in 48 hours


Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at several places in Odisha during next 48 hours.

It said heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rainfall are likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha and Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh and Sambalpur districts of North Odisha in next 24 hours.

On 22 July, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places over the districts of interior Odisha and extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, and Nuapada districts.

The average rainfall of the state recorded on Saturday for the last 24 hours is 58.2 mm.

Many parts of the state experienced very heavy rainfall in the last 24 hrs.

Six districts have received an average rainfall of 100 mm and above (Kalahandi-171.5 mm, Puri-169.4mm, Khordha-132.0 mm, Koraput-124.2 mm, Malkangiri-112.4 and Gajapati-101.2 mm).

Rainfall of 200 mm and above has been recorded in 16 Blocks and rainfall between 100 mm and 200 mm in 35 Blocks.
