Dharmendra, Jual meet Goyal on disbursal of farm insurance claims

New Delhi: Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram on Monday requested Union Finance Minister Piyush Goyal to expedite disbursal of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana claims for farmers in Odisha.

“Out of the total claim of Rs 798 crore with National Insurance Company Limited, Rs 199 crore has already been paid. Insurance claims worth Rs 352 crore for the Kharif season 2017 will be paid shortly and the balance Rs 173 crore is also being processed for a quick settlement,” said Pradhan.

He said a high-level committee having representatives from Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, State DFS and representatives from various insurance companies was formed to look into the contested claims of Rs 73 crore of National Insurance Company Limited.

The committee will also look after all pending claims of private insurers, he added.
