Nirman Kusuma Yojana launched for children of construction workers


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday launched Nirman Kusuma Yojana that aims to provide financial assistance to children of construction workers for pursuing technical education.

Nirman Kusuma Yojana will facilitate financial assistance to the children of construction labourers studying in government ITI and engineering diploma institutions.

Under the ‘Nirman Kusuma’ scheme, the government will give Rs 23,600 financial assistance to each for pursuing ITI course while Rs 26,300 financial assistance will be given to each for pursuing polytechnic and diploma courses.

A total of Rs 1.09 crore financial assistance has been deposited in the bank accounts of 1,878 beneficiaries for the 2018-19 academic session.

The Chief Minister also announced that the natural death ex gratia amount to each registered construction worker has been enhanced to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 1 lakh.

The accidental death ex gratia amount has been enhanced to Rs 4 lakh from Rs 2 lakh.

The Chief Minister also announced that the financial assistance given to the girl children of the registered construction workers for pursuing education from Class VI to Post Graduation (PG) and for maintaining health has been enhanced by 20%.
