Cyclone Titli: Odisha govt readies 836 multi purpose shelters


Bhubaneswar: With cyclone Titli moving towards Odisha coast, Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi has asked collectors of affected districts to ensure that 836 numbers of multi-purpose shelters are kept ready to accommodate maximum people.

He said there should not be any hesitation to evacuate people in the risk zones.

The Met department has issued a red in some coastal districts of Odisha forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at several places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated areas for the next two days.

The Odisha government on Tuesday ordered the closure of all schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres in four districts as a precautionary measure due to the Cyclone Titli.

All schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres in the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur will remain closed on October 10-11.
