Oil companies asked to supply essential commodities in cyclone-hit Odisha


Bhubaneswar: Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has instructed oil companies to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities like LPG, kerosene, diesel and petrol in the cyclone Titli and flood-affected areas of Odisha.

Accordingly, all the oil companies (IOCL, BPCL & HPCL) and GAIL called an urgent meeting to deliberate on the situation.

It was decided that the supply line of all essential fuels will be monitored by concerned officers, which includes its smooth positioning at all affected areas.

Officers from oil industry have been asked to remain alert and take pre-emptive measures to ensure availability of these essential fuels and its positioning so that there are no shortages experienced by the people of the state, said Dharmendra Behura, DGM( LPG- HPCL).

Officials from IOCL, BPCL, HPCL and GAIL are also engaged in distributing relief materials to needy people in the affected area like Ganjam and Gajapati districts from today.

Similar arrangements have also been made from oil companies for distributing relief materials for other areas also.
