Bhubaneswar: While India has become the second largest steel producers of the world, Indian steel manufacturers have to depend upon foreign countries for technology and equipment, said JSPL CEO (Steel Business) NA Ansari on Tuesday.
“For the growth of steel industry in the country, we need to develop steelmaking technologies and equipment indigenously,” said Ansari while participating in a panel discussion during Conclave on Capital Goods for Steel Sector: Manufacture in India.
The conclave was organised by Union Ministry of Steel in association with CII and Mecon at Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
He further said that for increasing our steel manufacturing to achieve the mission 2030, the country needs to improve capabilities for metallurgical equipment.
“We have good capacity in electrical equipment,” he added.
Former Steel Secretary Aruna Sharma chaired the panel discussion, which was co-chaired by SAIL Chairman Anil Chaudhary and BHEL CMD Atul Sobti.
