Farmers Enter Into Scuffle With Police In Odisha

Odisha govt constitutes ministerial committee to examine farmers’ demand

Bhubaneswar: With a large number of farmers marching to Bhubaneswar to stage a demonstration here Monday, the Odisha government constituted a ministerial committee to examine the demands made by agitating farmers.

The committee will be headed by finance minister Shashi Bhusan Behera.

Agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy and co-operation minister Surya Narayan Patro are other members of the panel.

The committee will prepare terms of reference to discuss the demands of the farmers.

The farmers are on ‘padayatra’ demanding price, prestige and pension.

Meanwhile, the farmers were stopped by the police at various places to foil their protest.

The administration has clamped prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code at Hansapal and Tamando to stall the protest.
