Odisha to receive heavy rainfall: IMD


Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha underthe influence of a well-marked low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.

It predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the south Odisha districts and heavy rainfall in the western Odisha districts.

A depression, which lay over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh moved in the north-north-east direction during the past six hours, has weakened into a low pressure area and lays over the north-west andadjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and Odisha this morning.

It is very likely to weaken further during the next 12 hours, said an IMD release.

Under its influence, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Gajapati districts in the next 12 hours.

The IMD release also said that heavy rainfall is llikely to occur in Ganjam, Puri, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Bargarh, Balangir, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Keonjhar district.
