Jio adds 2.74 lakh new subscribers in Odisha in November


Bhubaneswar: Reliance Jio has added 2.74 lakh new subscribers as Odisha saw a marginal increase in mobile users in November last year.

As per the recent report on subscriber data published by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Odisha has witnessed positive growth in mobile subscriber base with net addition of 27,737 subscribers in November 2018.

This is in the backdrop of negative growth registered in overall mobile users in the months of September and October, which witnessed decline of subscribers by 11,500 and 47,762 respectively.

As per the subscriber data released by TRAI for November 2018, Reliance Jio continues to maintain its leadership and strong growth trend in new subscriber additions in the state as it added 2.74 lakh new mobile subscribers in November.

Among other telecom service providers who also managed positive net additions in Odisha in November are BSNL with net addition of 30,209 subscriber and Bharti Airtel with net addition of 3,548 subscribers.

While Vodafone Idea witnessed a decline of over 2.4 lakh subscribers followed by Tata Teleservices which lost over 39,000 subscribers in the state in November 2018.

The total mobile subscriber base in Odisha as on 30th November 2018 stands near 3.31 crores, the report said.

In terms of subscriber market share as on November 2018, Bharti Airtel now slipped to 39.8% followed by a closeting Reliance Jio with 23.5%, Vodafone Idea 18.3%, BSNL 16.8% and Tata Tele at 1.7%.

Nationally, Reliance Jio also led the new mobile subscriber additions in November 2018 by adding around 88.01 lakh subscribers across the country, the highest among all the telecom service providers. As on November 30, 2018, the subscriber base of Jio has reached around 27.16 crores, as per data released by TRAI.

Worth mentioning that Reliance Jio has been leading new subscriber additions over last two years in Odisha and also achieved revenue market leadership in Odisha by overtaking Bharti Airtel in the quarter ending September 2018.
