Congress president Rahul Gandhi arrives in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi on Friday arrived in Odisha to address a public gathering and interact with the party leaders ahead of general and assembly elections in the state.

This is the first visit of Gandhi to Odisha after becoming the AICC president, who was welcomed by the senior party leaders at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here. 

Amid the exudous of senior party leaders, the visit of Rahul assumes significance to the state.

The state leadership hoped that the visit will help in infusing a new lease of life to the moribund Congress party in the state.

Rahul will address a rally christened as ‘Parivartan Sankalp Samavesh’ at Tamando Stadium on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

He will discuss with the party leaders about the poll strategy. He is also slated to meet intellectuals during his day-long visit here, party sources said.

Gandhi will also meet employees of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) at the party office.
