We have fulfilled all promises made to people: Odisha CM


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday said the state government has fulfilled the promises made to the people of the state.

The Chief Minister reviewed the implementation of 2014 poll promises at the Council of Ministers meeting, before the forthcoming general elections.

He presented some of the highlights of the manifesto promises made and achievements of his government in the last five years.

“We have constructed more than 20 lakh pucca houses for our people during the last five years. Promised for creation of 10 lakh hectres of additional irrigational potential and we have created 9 lakh hectres and are in the process of creating 10 lakh hectres by May 2019,” said the Chief Minister.

On Food Security for All, he said, “It is my firm belief that deserving people even if they are not in the BPL list must be covered under Food Security. Towards this objective, we are implementing our own Food Security Scheme.”

On youth empowerment, he said, “We are providing education loan at 1%. Career Counseling Centres have been opened in Universities and Colleges. We have provided direct and indirect employment opportunities to the 12 lakh youths out of which 1.12 lakh are in the Government sector.”

On the Universal Health Coverage, he said, “Through Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, we are providing Universal Health Coverage. Free medicines, diagnosis and treatment from Sub-Centres to Medical Colleges are being provided. While Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana provides upto Rs 5 lakhs health cover, in case of women it is Rs 7 lakhs.”

The Chief Minister said the government is covering 48 lakh deserving persons under our Social Security Schemes.

This is one of the highest in the country as regards people covered and population, he added.

On loan at the rate of one percent to farmers, he said, “From 2015 we have been providing at the rate of one percent and now in KALIA we are providing at the rate of zero percent.”

On women empowerment, he said, “We promised to provide SHG loans at the rate of one percent and now we are providing loans at the rate of zero percent interest. In addition to this, 70 lakh women are part of the socio-economic political movement.”

On the industrial development, he said, “Both our Make in Odisha Conclaves have been hugely successful paving way for employment opportunities for 30 Lakh youths.”
