Bhubaneswar: BJD’s Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Nayak on Friday resigned from the primary membership of the party ahead of assembly elections in Odisha.
In his resignation letter addressed to BJD president Naveen Patnaik, Nayak alleged that a conspiracy has been hatched against him by inducting a leader in the party without his knowledge.
“To add to my disadvantage, the mental torture meted out to me by the district BJD president becomes unbearable day by day,” said the Nilagiri MLA in the letter.
Notably, BJP Mahila Morcha state vice-president Sushama Biswal joined BJD in presence of party president Naveen Patnaik here on Monday.
Sushama was the BJP candidate for Nilgiri
Assembly segment in the 2014 elections and had secured over 49,000 votes.
