Rahul attacks Naveen, Modi on growing unemployment in Odisha

Bargarh: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for failing to provide jobs to youths in the state.

“Odisha has become the centre of unemployment as most of its youths are migrating to other states in search of jobs,” said Gandhi while addressing a rally here.

“What has Naveen Patnaik done for the unemployed youth of Odisha? Is there anyone here who can say Naveen Patnaik or Narendra Modi gave them employment?” asked the Congress president.

He said that there are 1.5 lakh government posts, 30,000 school teacher posts and 5,000 medical staff posts are lying vacant in the state.

He alleged that farmers were committing suicide in this district as both the Centre and the state government failed to address the problems of the peasants.

“Patnaik had promised to set up a chain of cold storages in the state and providing irrigation. What happened to those promises? In every speech, Modi talks about farmers but unconcerned about waiving off farm loans. But, Modi had written off loan worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore of industrialists,” Gandhi said.

He alleged that Rs 5,000 crore was looted in chit fund scam while Naveen Patnaik handed over Rs 50,000 crore to his friends through the mining scam.

“I want to assure you that whoever looted public money, we will take action and provide justice,” he added.
