Former MLA Debi Prasanna Chand quits Congress

Bhubaneswar: Former Jaleswar MLA Debi Prasanna Chand on Thursdy resigned from the Congress party after being denied ticket for the upcoming Assembly elections.

In a resignation letter to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik, Chand expressed his displeasure over the party’s functioning and negligence towards him.

“I have been sincerely working as a disciplined member of the Congress since 1992. But the party has sidelined me,” said Chand.

“I have realized that Congress is more a people’s party. It is not functioning properly and has become a business unit. The party is being ruined in the name of survey,” he added.
