Cyclone Fani: Odisha Governor reviews preparedness


Bhubaneswar: Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal on Wednesday took stock of all pre-cyclone preparedness measures to deal with the impending strike of cyclonic storm ‘Fani’, which is heading towards Odisha.

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi apprised the Governor about steps taken by different departments of State Government and OSDMA to tackle any eventuality.

Padhi informed about readiness of cyclone shelters and also assignment of 20 ODRAF and 12 NDRF teams.

Governor told him to alert all line departments and to keep close watch on the situation and be ready with all necessary emergency equipments and materials.

Governor was specific on making available essential medicines and ensuring supply of drinking water in the marooned areas.

He has instructed State Red Cross to stay in all preparedness to provide relief and rescue and keep volunteers ready with necessary items like food packets and medicines.

Governor asked all concerned departments to work in coordination with each other at this time of crisis and take every step to mitigate miseries of people that is likely to arise due to impending cyclone.
