Naveen stakes claim to form govt in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik on Sunday met Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal and formally staked claim for formation of government for a fifth consecutive term in Odisha.

He also submitted the letter showing that he was elected as leader of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) legislature party.

Earlier, the elected BJD legislators elected Patnaik as their legislature party leader on Sunday. BJD has won 112 MLAs in 147 Assembly house.

“The honourable MLAs have elected me as their leader. I am very greatful to them,” said the BJD president.

Patnaik will be sworn-in as Odisha Chief Minister at Idco Exhibition Ground here on May 29.
