BMC forms two eforcement squads for effective polythene ban


Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday formed two enforcement squads for strict implementation of plastic/polythene ban within its jurisdiction.

The squads comprise officials of the State Pollution Control Board, Commissionerate Police, Forest Department and BMC. The enforcement will start tomorrow.

The two enforcement squads will have responsibilities like seizure of banned plastic/polythene materials, imposition of penalty and fines, issuing show cause notices and pre announcement on not to use plastic/polythene within the BMC area.

Today, in many localities pre announcements were done by the squads on the polythene ban.

The squads will be assisted by two policemen during the raids. BMC in an official order today has asked officials concerned to extend all support in coordination with the squad members for an effective enforcement on polythene/plastics.
