Odisha Governor not to host At Home Party on Independence Day

Bhubaneswar: Showing solidarity with people affected by cyclone FANI in Odisha, Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal has decided not to host At Home Party at Raj Bhawan on the occasion of Independence Day this year.

 The move came as mark of respect to the victims in the cyclone-ravaged state.

Notably, there is a practice of Governor holding At Home party at Raj Bhawan on August 15 every year.

The dignitaries of important fields including Chief Minister, Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, Speaker, ministers, MPs from Odisha, MLAs and high court judges and prominent industrialists are invited to the party.

There is a prevailing tradition of the Governor felicitating the freedom fighters on this occasion.
