Hyderabad-Guwahati flight makes emergency landing at city airport


Bhubaneswar: A Guwahati-bound flight from Hyderabad was forced to land at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Odisha capital on Sunday after a passenger on board created a mid-air ruckus.

According to airport officials, Hyderabad-Guwahati IndiGo flight no. 6E 462 was diverted to the BPIA after a passenger namely Irshad Ali (20) behaved ‘unruly’ on board.

It was reported that he started yelling, standing on the seat and disobeying instructions of the crew.

After the landing at the Bhubaneswar Airport around 6.10 am, Ali was handed over to police. He was later admitted to the Capital Hospital here. The person is reportedly mentally unstable.

The aircraft later resumed its journey to Guwahati at 7.13 am and reached the destination around 8.30 am.
