Woman journalist stages dharna demanding action against Anubhav

Cuttack: A woman journalist, who had accused Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty and his brother Anuprash of misbehaving with her, on Sunday staged a dharna at the Purighat police station in Odisha’s Cuttack city citing threat to her life and demanding action against the accused.

The woman journalist had on June 14 filed a complaint against Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Anubhav Mohanty for allegedly misbehaving and assaulting her.

She had complained that Anubhav’s brother Anuprash was repeatedly harassing her while she used to go for work.

She alleged that Anubhav and his wife Barsha had abused her verbally and had even spat on her when she had gone to complaint against the actor-turned politician’s brother.

“The IIC of the police station is unable to take action against the MP and his brother due to political pressure on the official. Moreover, the investigation into the matter is yet to commence though I had lodged the complaint a month ago. I was told that the case hasn’t been assigned to any police official for probe,” the woman journalist said.
