Sweet victory: Odisha Rasagola gets GI tag

Bhubaneswar: Sweet victory for Odisha as Rasagola gets Geographical Indication (GI) tag.

The Geographical Indications Registry, Chennai has granted the GI tag to the Rasagola. The name of the Geographical Indication will be read as ‘Odisha Rasagola’

Earlier, the Odisha government had submitted the required documents for getting the Geographical Indication (GI) status to Odisha Rasagola.

The state moved the GI Registry for its own version of the popular sweet after West Bengal was awarded the GI tag for its own variant ‘Banglara Rasagulla’ in November 2017.
