4 planetariums, 10 science parks to come up in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: Four new planetariums will be set up while that science parks will be established in each district in Odisha, informed Science and Technology Minister Ashok Chandra Panda on Saturday.

Replying to a question by Biju Janata Dal (BJD) legislator Sudhir Kumar Samal, Panda told the Assembly that four planetariums will be set up at Baripada, Rayagada, Keonjhar and Gopalpur at a total cost of Rs 30 crore.

While Gopalpur planetarium will be set up at Rs 9 crore, Rs 7 crore each will be spent for the planetariums at Rayagada, Keonjhar and Baripada.

Notably, Odisha has two planetariums at Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur.

Replying to another question, Panda said that science parks will be established in each district in the state.

He said 10 science parks will be made operational in the first phase while locations of four have been finalised at Baripada, Rayagada, Gopalpur and Keonjhar.
