Modi, Naveen greet Odisha people on Nuakhai festival


Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday greeted the people of Odisha on the occasion of Nuakhai festival.

Nuakhai festival is an agrarian festival celebrated in Odisha, particularly in the Western Odisha.

Nuakhai stands for eating of new rice, further suggesting that the farmers in possession of newly harvested rice. The farmers offer the first produce from their lands to Goddess Samaleswari, to whom the festival is dedicated.

On the occasion, the PM took to Twitter to wish the people of Odisha.

Modi wished for happiness and overall development of all the people, especially farmers in the state.

“Nuakhai Juhar! One of the most ancient festivals of Odisha, may this auspicious occasion further the spirit of prosperity, especially among our hardworking farmers. Praying for everyone’s good health and wellbeing,” Modi tweeted.

Chief Minister Naveen also took to Twitter to wish the people on this occasion. Patnaik hoped growth and prosperity of the farming community in the state and thereby overall development of Odisha.

Besides, several ministers wished the people on the occasion.
