Sanat Gartia is BJP candidate for Bijepur bypoll

Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday announced to field Sanat Gartia for the bypoll to Bijepur assembly constituency.

Sanat Gartia had unsuccessfully contested against Naveen Patnaik from the seat in 2019 assembly elections.

The BJP has decided to repeat him this time as well as he is a native of the Bijepur constituency. He had polled about 29 per cent of votes in 2019 elections, said BJP sources.

The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has announced former MLA Rita Sahu as the party’s candidate for the by-election.

The Congress has announced to field Dilip Kumar Panda as the party’s candidate for the seat.
