New VCs for Berhampur University, Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishwavidaya


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor and Chancellor of universities Prof Ganeshi Lal has appointed new Vice Chancellors for Berhampur University and Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishwavidaya.

Prof. Govind J. Chakrapani has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Berhampur University.

The Governor has appointed Prof Hari Har Hota as new Vice-Chancellor of Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishwavidaya, Puri.

Lal appointed Prof Govind J. Chakrapani and Prof Hari Hara Hota as Vice-Chancellors of respective universities for a period of three years with effect from the date they assume office as such or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Prof. Govind J. Chakrapani born on 18th May 1963 is presently serving as Professor in Department of Earth Sciences, IIT, Roorkee. After completing his M.Sc in Applied Geology in IIT, Mumbai, he had both his M.Phil in Environmental Sciences in 1988 and Ph.D from JNU, New Delhi in Environmental Geosciences in 1991.

He did his Post Doctoral in Marine Sciences from University of Delaware, USA in 1991-92.

He had 27 years of teaching experience and also academic administrative experience of 23 years holding several posts and responsibilities. Prof. Chakrapani had successfully completed a training programme on administration of University/Institution under LEAP (Leadership for Academicians Programme conducted by Ministry of HRD.

He also served as Visiting Professor in universities and institutes abroad. He had 78 publications to his credit out of this 17 are international. He guided 14 scholars to their Ph.D degree.    

Prof. Hari Hara Hota born on 4th October, 1960 is presently serving as Professor and Chairman, PG Council in Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Visvavidyalalya (SJSV), Puri.

He had both his Acharya (MA) and Ph.D from SJSV, Puri and later did MBA in IT from Punjab Technical University, Ludhiana. He had 30 years of teaching experience and has a long administrative experience in various capacities.

He was also Resource Person of several leading academic institutions and is credited with the introduction of M.Phil course for Jyotirvigyan and also designed and implemented the CBCS curriculum for PG Classes. Prof. Hota authored 18 books.

He was also honoured in the national and international fora in the area of academic and professional expertise. 15 students were awarded Ph. D degree under his guidance.
